This series 4 unit was installed on December 19,2007 and was the second of four units installed on this 70' custom catamaran. This unit was placed to dry the decks on the flybridge where water was pocketing.
The flybridge on this 70 foot catamaran was added after the vessel was built. The floor (previously the unused upper deck) is sloped down to forward which causes about one inch of water (about 5 gallons) to be trapped at the Port and Starboard outboard edges. No drainage through the deck was possible. The Arid Bilge solution - 3/8" tubing was passed under the base of the Port seat and cut flush with the deck - see oval hole at end of the red arrow.
The 3/8" tubing after passing through the deck is routed to the fine mesh sea strainer. The filtered water leaving the sea strainer continues to the Arid Bilge System through the 3/16" tubing on the left. The 3/8" tubing and sea strainer are serviceable for cleaning.
The same installation was performed on the Starboard side with a 3/8" oval hole at the end of the red arrow.
And the same fine mesh sea strainer inside the Starboard seat. After a heavy rain, water in excess of five gallons drains out of the aft end of the flybridge. The Arid Bilge removes the 5 gallons that would have remained trapped on the deck.
Inside of the flybridge were two compartments where water collected. Shown below is the Starboard inside area.
The Arid Bilge pickup wand was installed at the lowest and deepest point in this Starboard compartment shown here in this after picture below.
The Port side also had an inside compartment shown below in the before picture.
Below, in this after picture, the same compartment on the Port side is shown with the Arid Bilge pickup wand.
